Privacy policy
What this site collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Dunn Creative is the creative practice of Geoffrey Dunn (ABN 59 856 871 621), based in Canberra. In this policy, “I” and “me” mean Geoffrey Dunn trading as Dunn Creative. I collect as little personal information as I can, I don’t sell it, and I don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t expect.
What I collect
When you get in touch
If you use the contact form or email me, I receive your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to tell me, such as a phone number, project details or dates. The form also records your IP address and browser details with your message, to help block spam.
When you browse
Like most websites, the hosting server keeps standard logs of visits: IP address, the page requested, browser type and time. They’re used for security and to fix problems, not to identify you. If you say yes to it, the site also uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are viewed. It’s off until you agree, it isn’t used for advertising, and Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses.
Cookies and other services
The site sets two small cookies of its own, which remember your cookie choice for up to a year. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics adds its own cookies (named _ga), which last up to two years. You can change your mind any time with Cookie preferences at the bottom of every page. The Instagram strip on the home page is served from this site, so viewing it doesn’t connect you to Instagram. The interview video on the Content page comes from YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode) and only loads when you press play. Links to other sites, such as LinkedIn or the National Portrait Gallery, are covered by those sites’ own policies.
How I use it
To reply to you, to quote for and deliver work, to send invoices and keep business records, and to keep the site secure. I won’t add you to a mailing list, and I won’t sell or share your details, except with the services that help me run the business (my web host and email) or where the law requires it.
Where it’s kept
The website and its email are hosted by VentraIP on servers in Sydney, Australia. Contact form messages are stored in the website’s database and in my business email. Google (Analytics, and YouTube if you play the video) may handle data outside Australia.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted within two years. If we work together, I keep project and invoice records for as long as the law requires for tax purposes (generally five years). Copies of emails sent by the website are kept for 90 days.
Your choices
You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by emailing hello@dunncreative.com.au. I’ll respond within 30 days. You can also block cookies in your browser, and the site will still work.
Questions and complaints
Email hello@dunncreative.com.au and I’ll do my best to sort it out. If you’re not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
